Empowering Filipino Youth!
Escuela Taller de Filipinas scholars are out-of-school youth with ages ranging from 17-25 years old. They come from economically challenged backgrounds and live within the areas surrounding Intramuros. Most of them have studied only up to the second year of high school and have been deprived of further education thereafter.
The Escuela Taller scholars are provided with the following benefits:
- Free uniforms
- Free daily lunch
- Free transportation
- Free school supplies
- Free workshop materials
They are trained for 12 months on traditional construction techniques in the areas of Masonry, Carpentry & Woodworking, Painting & Finishing, Plumbing, Electrical, and Metalwork. Also, they have Academic Classes in Technical Drawing, Values Education and Culture and Heritage Appreciation.
Since 2015, ETFFI has been implementing the Buddy System, in which a graduate and current trainees are partnered in the execution of projects for a duration of 6 months in order to promote mentorship following the “learning by doing”-method of teaching.
ETFFI trainees are certified by TESDA once they pass their National Certification II skills assessment examination. This certification has been a big help to our graduates in finding employment after completion of their formation program.
